Kindergarten Graduation

Over Spring Break, I bought a beautiful punchbowl. To justify my purchase, I said "Karen Matejka needs me to buy this for her Kindergarten Graduation." Everyone at the school has heard about my family's ventures in wedding coordinating. This means I was allowed to help with the set up of the fruit table. A lot of people worked on making this fruit table so gorgeous.

Bowbands Etc.

My second attempt at a bowband, may be a little small. I hope not.
I used a kids pair of tights this time. I was hoping it would be a thicker material. And it is.

More Bows

I have been inspired by Kristy Kayle to attempt bow making. I have several friends with baby girls, and can't wait to share my bows with them. Unfortunately, I haven't bought any alligator clips yet. Neither Joann's nor Walmart carry this type of clip.

So for the time being, I am just playing with ribbons. Here are a few of the new bows I have made...

This is my most recent, and favorite bow.

Bowbands

After seeing all of the cute boutique bowbands out there, I wanted to make some of my own. I have never been very good at bow making though. Here is my first attempt.

The bow is "boutique bow."
The band is from a video by JessaBailey.

To make it easier for myself, I typed up the steps.

Bow Band Tutorial

Get one ball of nylon knee highs.

Take the band that goes around your leg, and cut it off.

Cut off the seam where the toe is.

Now you have a tube of nylon.

Overlap the two ends just a little bit. About a quarter of an inch.

Weave needle and thread in and out on overlapped section.

Pull it tightly.

Wrap it around and back under again, about three times, pull tight in between each time.

Turn it over (so underside is facing up).

Tie off your thread, twice.

All you do to cover up the thread is take a piece of scrap ribbon 3/8th – 5/8th inch (it depends on the size of your alligator clip, most people on a baby one use the really small alligator clip), heat seal your ends,.

Put some hot glue on the bow band, attach the ribbon, and pull it tightly around, overlap the ribbon a little.

Put another dab of glue at the end to secure the ribbon.

Then you have enough room under your ribbon to insert your bow(on an alligator clip)

Pink and Black Tutu

My friend Haley introduced to this tutu. She made it for her little girl, so I decided to give it a try. It is so precious.
